Might use the small ones if you are using 4-6 lb test. Medium for anything larger is my thought.

that is a hard question...I would guess itsy-bitsy (1/32d"), teeny-weeny (1/16") and little-bitty (maybe big enough for the O ring on small crank baits)...best I can do...

I dont have the actual measurements but the "L" is barely large enough for med sized cranks. Not sure (never seen them) but I'd bet the "XL" would be better for big bass baits. Normans give the size but cost more.

I would not do it for trout and trout flies. I would use for bass or saltwater species not too sensitive to additional hardware.
Depending on what time of year, especially later in the summer when the flies are getting smaller this is a non starter for trout. Thats why I use flouro leader, 7x tippets, etc depending on how big the fish are where I am fishing. Trout with any pressure are too smart for this.
