  • Stronger than mono
  • Casts farther than mono
  • Smoother casts
  • Ties easily
  • Unaffected by UV, sunlight and cold
No other line delivers the same combination of easy handling, castability, super strength and sensitivity as Berkley's FireLine does. Stronger than mono, yet FireLine casts farther and handles just as well—even better, in some situations. FireLine ties easier, makes smoother casts, and stays hassle-free in any weather. Durable, too, as FireLine won't deteriorate over a lifetime, because ultra-light rays, sunlight, and even cold won't affect it.

A:
This is by far the best line ever, I caught more trout on this line, then any other, forget mono, forget fluorocarbon, it just doesn't compare. I recommend 6 pound test, its real breaking strength is at 15 pounds, so you will easily pull out fish. The best color is the grayish black one, because its invisible to fish at that diameter, even in the sunniest day ever.

Fireline or power pro?

I will be using it on my baitcaster. Also what pound test for spinnerbait fishing for bass? (Please answer only if you have tried both brands).

A:
fireline fused gray, 50 lb, its breaking point is at 80 pounds using a polomar knot :). If your using on baitcaster, never buy anything of smaller diameter, because it will cut into itself no matter what brand of braid fishing line it is. Fireline is way stronger than powerpro and also it keeps it roundness for way longer. It will also never lose its color unlike powerpro.

I use fireline on all of my spinning reels and it works great! Crystal supposedly is clear in the water, but I use the smoke color and the fish don't know any different...so just go with braid. Lastly, don't use anything less than 12 lb test or you will eventually have a big one get away.

Excellent for spinning. Spinning reels will twist mono like crazy, but I only have to spool Fireline once a year and NEVER have to fool with birds nests. As far as color to choose, go with smoke. It is visible, but the fish don't seem to mind. You will never lose a fish due to breakage--tie a good knot and hang on tight!

I use Fireline exclusively on spinning reels when I'm fishing with crank baits. It won't twist like mono will and has much less tendency to birdsnest on you. I've found that crystal is not as resistant to abraision as the smoke or the oiriginal.

The Fireline does work great on spinning gear. I love the stuff

Braid line is excactly that, braided micro-filiments. Fireline is micro filiments and is not braided. both superlines have thier own advatages. I would choose fireline over braid any day, simply cause it casts better. One can also fill the spool up on spinning gear and get no wind knots. Braid will get a few casts and have to cut off 25 yrs cause of wind knots.

Neither, I recommend SMOKE. I have tried crystal and flame green and won't buy them again. I have had my best luck with SMOKE whether fishing dark water or crystal clear water.

I've never used the flame grn- nor do I want to, but I've used the crystal for 3 seasons now- liked it at 1st, but it has a tendency to "collect" crud from stained water and turn an off brn color, losing it's ability to stay "clear", so I'm going back to plain black- it seems the best all around for my styles of fishing.

Yes, very well. I run bc's for my trolling, on inland lakes as well as Lake Erie- would'nt use anything else. It seems to work better than mono for casting cranks too- not near as many birdsnest with the Fireline.

Im thinking about buying a combo for drop shots only adn i was wondering if it would be better to buy the fireline crystal(because it becomes invisible below the surface adn because of the no stretch property) or fluorocarbon.

Fireline Crystal is NOT invisible underwater. It is simply BS. If you want minimal visibility, stick with fluorocarbon. If you want tough, zero-strech line, go with the Fireline Crystal.

Prob would work- cheaper in the long run than flo-carb, but prob I had w/crystal is it "soaks" in dirt from water and turns a brownish color, losing it's invisibility properties. So, I use black. I not only use it for main lines, but make my walleye harnesses/ leaders out of it for it's strength & longivity.

Fireline is strong to pull on, but it is not very abbrasive resistant flurocarbon is very abbrasive resistant. Also, if you're fishing clear water i would use the flurocarbon, but if you stained water than fireline crystal would be okay. If it was me i would go with 8lb 100% triline flurocarbon. hope this helps.

yes, but make sure you use the surgeons knot, so it doesn't slip off. Also the line's strength is way higher than what it says on the box atleast 2.5x stronger, but the diameter is still way smaller than other braids.

A:
There are new Fireline braided lines (that specify braid) but the original Fireline smoke, flame green and I believe crystal are not actually braided they are thermally fused. I cant explain it scientifically but it works great and is much quieter and smoother when pulled out under drag. It has all of the positives and none of the negatives of standard braid. I have used the original smoke for ten years plus and tried almost all other latest greatest braids and always come back to the original Fireline. The color fades some and it does gets a little fuzzy on reels that are used 4-7 days a week 8 months a year (a full season). I just flip it over and get two seasons out of a 125 yd spool still cheaper than mono. Don't let the fuzzy part scare you. It looks scary but the line doesn't seem to loose any strength it just slightly shortens the cast. Use the same # test Fireline you would normally use with mono. The Fireline will be thinner and still much stronger because it ridiculously over tests. I have taken 35lb stripers in the surf with 10lb test Fireline on a 9' surf stick. I also had a 21lb bass on the flats with 6lb test Fireline. You will need to learn good knots as you should anyway. I have never had it groove a ceramic guide yet. When you try it it will be a little wirey it will soften in a couple of outtings. I always use a mono leader tied with a back to back uni knot. Good luck
