when i use my bait clicker when retrieving my line it almost locks up like i got a 40 pound fish but in reality theres not even a pound a pressure on it. but if i dont use it it really doesnt. it hasnt even been near water i just got it yesterday.? are u not suppost to use the bait clicker when retrieving? i got the penn 114h2Answers

Only leave the bait clicker on when retrieving if you are filming a TV show LOL. To get to the point, the clicker does add a little resistance but not like you are describing.

you shouldn't use the clicker wile reeling it because it will burn out the clicker but it shouldn't affect you reeling make sure it is well greasedDetails:

The drag is pretty smooth right out of the box. There are other similar reels with smoother drags but they cost a lot more. My advice (if you don't mind opening up the reel) is to buy some drag grease and lube the drag plates if you find the drag not smooth enough for your liking. Also, loosen the drag after each fishing trip before you store the reel.A:

Is this reel good for king mackerel?Answers

This reel will work very well for King Macs when paired with the right rod. The retrieve ratio is a little low for the situations where the king is running at the boat but that isn't a major problem since Kings don't have quite the aggressive head shake of other pelagics.A:

if you have the 144h2 or 115 i would say 50 to 80 would be all you would need. the max drag is only 22 pounds so 100lbs would be a lil overkill wouldnt u thinkA:

a top shot first fill it with half braid any pound test then fill the rest with mono and lb testA:
take it to a tackle shop, and watch how they do it. Then try on the next one.

Rigg filler line spool flat level as reel spool is by using a small wooden rod clamped to a table and slide Filler spool on it ,, or hang piece of heavy guage wire that it will fit through the center hole of the filler spool so that it can free wheel as line is taken off over the top of the spool towards the reel . So the filler spool is rolling simular to the reel spool is with line going out over top of filler spool to going on over the top of the reel spool . The Line must go into empty reel again over the top and tied onto reels center empty spool . So the line leaves filler spool over the top and goes onto reel over the top as you crank the handle . Choose line you want and use this method . Crank handle of reel with right or left handle depending on model . with other hand use a certain tention on line before it goes onto reel spool so as to not load the line to loose on the reel Do this from start to finish . Load line on spool to 1/8th to 1/4 from the top of spool sidewall . Now your ready to fish .A:
You need a buddy to hold your new line with a pencil or rod,, make sure the line coming off is coming of towards you, so you dont get twists,,, and apply a little presure to line so it reels on snug and not to loose,, you will need to tie your line to the reel spool first, i always use a uni knot for this,,,,if your putting braid on,,,tie some mono to braid first using the uni knot technique then tie the mono end to reel spool,,,it will stop the brsid from slipping on spool.Answers

none of these are the 9/0 i do not beleave bass pro has them anymore but a 9/0 would be a 115hA:
If your looking for a 9/0, you should be looking at the regular senators, special senators only come in a 6/0-3/0. You want to get the Penn Senator 115L. That is the one your looking for.Q:

How do you manually guide the line during the retrieve if there is no line guide on this reel?

This reel is for bottom fishing and/or trolling. I use 80 lb braid for both of these activities and have never had to worry with uneven spooling. Don't get me wrong...the line does not uniformly spool but I have never had a problem with tangles or overlaps. Like other people have said...this reel is not intended for casting and a level wind will eventually break.A:
If you start to find that the line is bunching up, guide it with yuor finger. The levelwind feature is just something else to break, and they do.

this takes knowledge of cranking reel in a rythem pulling rod and fish up while cranking line onto reel as you lower rod again , then using focus on reel to make sure you dont put all the line on one side of spool , as you crank down with forehand holding rod above reel and other hand is on crank . With Hand holding Rod use your thumb to sweep line coming in across spool in one direction ,,Then again as you crank rod down sweeping the line across spool to other side of spool . This technique is advised for bottom fishing only with best results , Choose correct reel for specific species of fish , You dont want this reel for fast swimming surface fish that may run towards boat fast , then a levelwind is your all around choice . Senator reels are more of a winch reel than a fast speed reel . Its suited for slower swimming fish more powerful fish using heavier lines . People target certain fish with certain reels . Best way is to talk to a guide in your area and find out what best results the guide gets for his clients for that type of fishing . Good Fishing !A:
Its the contour of the spool and thicker line,,, they never go perfectly level but its enough,,, you have to remember its not for casting,,, its a trolling reel or for straight drops or short throws.
