Does anyone know how long the sock part of this is? It says fits 6 to 7 foot but doesn't specify a length for the sock itself.

It's under 6 foot. I can't say exactly, but I have a 6' trigger rod I use for skipping docks and it doesn't come up to the levelwind.The stretchy strap part is very expandable, via a buckle like on suspenders.

They do fit 6 - 7 foot rods but on the longer rods you really can't put the strap over the reel because it puts too much pressure on the tip.A:

I have some high mod graphite rods that tend to be a tad brittle at the tip, and it seems to me this thing, if you strech it from the tip to the reel it would put too much pressure on the rod and snap the tip off. Has this happend to anyone?, or does it have something to protect this?Answers

It will not break your rod tip if you you do not adjust it too tightly, just enough pressure to keep it on.A:
You decide how tight it is by adjusting the sling.A:
If your rod is not over 7 feet 2 in you will be fine. Anything over that and yes it will bend the tip slightly and therefore, I wouldnt recommend using them. I personally throw 7 foot rods and they are perfect on those.A:
you have an adjust end to it so as not to stress your tip end. adjust it to fit loosely for your rods.richard

just make sure that you don't stretch the elastic too tight, I have found that if you do it does "stress" the rod tips. you don't have to pull them really tight to keep them in placeA:
I had to adjust the strap on the 7ft rod only. Had someone slam the rod tip in the door with the sock on, saved the rod from breaking.A:
The amount of force it's going to exert will depend on how tight the stretchy band is. If you open it all the way up then it will fit loosely. The other thing is you can choose where to secure the loop. If you put it all the way around the reel/seat then it'll be tighter. But on longer rods, you can put it around the forward handle crank and keep it looser.A:
The rod sock will be fine on longer roads as long as you adjust the strap that hooks onto your reel. I have never broken a tip but on longer rods it would put some pressure on the tip.On my 7 foot rods I just do not use the strap.Images for this Answer

Never snapped a tip but I do not like the bend it puts on the rods. It bends the tip if you tighten the strap to keep it on. But if I loosen it not to bend my rod the strap almost or does fall loose because the sock is so short. 7' bass rods. Not a quick on or off.A:
I wouldn't recommend it for 7ft rods. 6"6' is about the length they work on.For high modulus graphite rods (IM9) I'd suggest getting rod convers that enclose the entire rod which these don't. There is exposed graphite between the handle and the start of the sock.

I would guess if you have a really long rod there could be some stress there. These will fit a 7' rod without bending it. You just have to adjust the strap.1 of 1
