Are you talking about the length of the blank or the handle.

6 1/2' is a great overall length for versatility. You do need to go to at least 7' to fish the Carolina rig and 71/2' to flip.

A:
I wouldn't pay too much attention to the stock lengths as much as the action such as med, med heavy, and heavy and length. The longer and heavier rods generally have a little longer butt on them. I personally do not like a very short butt however all the g loomis rods I have seen have not been too short. I say this because I borrowed a rod one time that bruised my ribs on time because the end of the rod was even with my ribs. Handle D is different though. It is a flipping stick and they made it where you can push the into the base. Kinda hard to describe but its sort of like a two piece rod but the rod does not come apart it retracts into its self for easy storing. Very good idea.
