Im lookin at the 808sw and now I see this 888, but it does not have the sw designation.

It is not rated for saltwater. Stay with a reel with the SW rating. The power and line capacity of the 808 and the 888 are almost identical anyway.

A: 
the 888 is a great salt water reel but find the older version with the star drag system on the handle.

the knob drag system on the new 888 is the same junky one used for the 808 and it cant handle big fish.

also the 888 has a better gear ratio then the 808's
