I have only used mono line on any spincast I have ever owned. I have heard of people using braid but I would stick to mono. The test would be relative to the size of the reel. You can usually go a size or two more than the mfg recommends and you will be fine.

I haven't changed out the OEM line yet, but when I do I'll probably use Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon line at 6 lbs test.

I would go with 8-10 lb Berkley Trilene XL. This line casts very well and is durable.
