A: 
I don't think it will. I have 2 fly rods and on both there is not enough distance between the reel and buttstock for it to slide in the tube deep enough for it stay put while boat is underway.

not for a fly rod, unless you modify. the rod butt won't go unto the holder far enough for a secure, stable fit.
