A: 
The one I had had alittle button on the face that stuck out, and the braided line would sometimes start wrapping around that instead of the reel. If I didn't catch it right away, like when your cast lands someplace you want to get out of in a hurry, it would result in a huge mess, and since it was the end of the cast, I would always lose lots of line. Very frustrating.

I surf fish a lot and my reels get dunked in the water while I am putting bait on the hook. Can this reel handle saltwater submersion?

Yes. In fact, that has happened to me many times as I like to kayak fish. All you have to do is rinse the reel off and it will be fine. Just make sure rinse thouroughly and oil it properly.

This is a saltwater reel. Therefore, the saltwater should not corrode the reel. Please make sure you clean your reel after use to ensure a longer life. Thank you!
