Yes. You will have a hard time casting these lures with 12lb test line. These are meant for nothing more than 8lb test and that is stretching it. For 12lb test line you want at least a 1/4oz RT lure!

I think 12 lbs is little heavier for these and yes it will prevent from making long casts i will prefer 8 lbs test max.
