i guess you can leave them over night, but probably not the best idea. no telling who could get caught up in them. i wind mine up after im done fishing.

You could leave them overnight, but I see a few potential issues:
1) some one takes them
2) some one fishes your 'honey hole'
3) some one runs them over w/ boat

If you want to semi-permanently mark a spot, maybe a milk jug w/ a brick etc would be a better option.

You want to take them with you. If left overnight you risk losing them, another boat wrapping them in thier prop-wildlife getting caught in them etc.
Go ahead and mark the spot you have found in your GPS if you have them.
If you don't have a GPS-use a notepad to take notes. Choose a landmark close to the spot and make your notes- Like 100 yards off the big rock-also note the water level as it can change.
By the way-Bass Pro has very reasonable hand held GPS units that come in handy!!

i have never left mine overnight but as long as your weight is tied tight and no punk kids in your neighborhood will steal them then they should be fine
