I have a sun pier I keep my party barge in. I have flood lights on pier to attract gar, perch, and shiner minnows. I put the 36-inch trap in the water as directions, 3-inches under the water. I even tried it at 1-foot, to 2-feet under water. All the minnows shied away from going over the fish net. I did get a few small perch, but I purchased this item for minnows. What is the secret for getting the minnows?

Hey friend, if you can, get a little mesh sack and put bread in it and tie it in the middle where it will hang down and watch as the minnows come it to get the bread. As soon as it is busy with the minnows, make your pull up and put em in the bucket!

Before you drop the net in the water , get a hot dog and tear it into several pieces , put the pieces in the net . Secondly , turn the lights on after you have put the net into the water and thirdly , do not let the minnows etc. see you when you lift up the net . If the minnows see any movement they will swim off . Only other advise is to be quick ? Good luck .

Invest in a umbrella seine. 1st try dipping into moving water. I have got minnows the around docks as well. As net goes under water add 1/2 teaspoon of canned ( not the Chunkey kind, just cheap)dog food, count 20 seconds and pull up net. When you have got all you want turn net over to clean out remaining dog food. Good luck
