Yes, go with something bigger than a 2/0. I learned the hard way. I was using a 1/0 hook with the 6 inch lizard because the swimming action looked much freer. If a larger hook was not centered just right under the belly, the lizard swam cock-eyed. Anyway, I hooked into a pond beast at least 8 pounds....and she shook the hook the 3rd time she launched out of the water. Bottom line...3/0 for 4 inch lizard; 5/0 for 6 inch model.
I like to use a 3/0 for the 4" size and a 5/0 for the 6" size both texas rigged. This seems to provide the best action and hook ups. Gamakatsu EWG is what I use, and the 5/0 is a superline hook but, a regular 5/0 EWG is just as effective.
