Citrus shad/citruese. I fish mostly stained water where the forage is shad and bluegill. May want toi consider more natural color in clear water.

Well, first of all I am a Really , Really Big Fan of Bill Dance. also, This lure Really works Great too. I have Great luck with the Bill Dance -Tennessee Shad. My tackle box is running over with the Tenn. shad I probably have as many as Bass pro does of this type lure. On a few of the lakes that I fish this lure is perfect . Like, on Lake Cordell Hull and The Cumberland river the light green and chartreuse works well because the water is stained. I have found that this lure works in stained water for me the best. whenever I go to a lake with stained water I don't hesitate I throw the Tenn. shad

Both are really good lures! Sometimes the bass just seem to prefer one over the other...try them both when one or the other is not getting the bass' attention.

I have a couple of the newer models and several of the old Bill Dance models. The new ones seem to be the same caliber as the old ones, meaning they are good also. About the only difference is the color selection.

Why mine it is not sinking?

Details:
I am new to fishing I got a this item and the XPS Lazer Eye Nitro, both do not sink at all at the dept described it. I mean, pretty much both are floating in the lake.

I have a rod with a spinning reel using a 20lbs line, I did not use a leader or attached a weight to the line. I did a trilene and rapala knots.

Any advice will be really appreciated!

they are supposed to float.
when you start reeling they will dive with their bill to the stated depth.

A:
They are floating baits, they will dive to the depth when you reel them in. And 20lb line is way to heavy try 10 or 12lb.

Well "no" crankbait is going to run near its described depth on 20lbs line.. too much drag pulls the bait up.. try some lighter test ... say 12lbs ?

my best advice to you is to use a thiner line,i'm talking about going down from your 20 lbs test to 8 or 10 max if it's mono, but i use the bomber fat free shad with 10lbs test fireline(braid),once you switch to thiner line it will go down to it's depth, and if you wonder why it sits on the water after you cast it(floating),it's supossed to do that

A:
I assume by sink you mean dive. This is not a topwater lure yet it floats. When you reel it in it will dive to the depth that is usually mentioned on the box. So its not suposed to sink. If you are using it right but it just doesnt dive deep, you may be using too large diameter of line. Remember, the lure has to pull the line down with it so the lighter the line, the deeper it dives. Hope this helps

Yes they do. There are two Fat Free Shad pages. One (this one) is the Bill Dance page and the other is the regular Fat Free Shad page. The other page has the firetiger color. You can type "fat free" in the product search at the top of this page and it will show you both.

There is no simple answer to your question. "Best" will probably change daily and suggest you try several types in different colors, different depth ranges, until you gain confid. in a few and then stick with them.

A:
Unfortunately there is not a definite answer to this question due to changing seasons, water conditions, and fickle bass. The color is easier to nail down than the type. Craw patterns in the spring, shad patterns in the summer and fall, chartreuse if the water has color. These are starting guidelines more so than rules. Also shallow square billed crankbaits are great in the spring and fall. Deep divers work well in the summer. Most brands offer a bait to fit every situation. The best advice I can give is to have a selection to fit a variety of conditions, match what you use to the situation at hand, and you will find one that you can gain confidence in.
