Never done any wiring on jon boat.Have a 12V battery so what do I need to install the golight to that. Very basic I am sure but need some instruction.

If your boat uses 2 pin style plug just run blue or grey wire to positive side of battery or switch and black wire to ground! atleast 14 guage wire recommended then just plug light in!A:
If you have pre-exsisting wires all you have to do is connect a heavier guage wire to the hot wire you are looking to replace and pull it threw your wiring harness back to your switch. If no wires then just run the desired length of wire to you switch or batteyDetails:
I have a 3 pin socket in which the 3rd pin is hot all the time for an auxillary stanchion pole light. When I rewire the Gobee for 3 pins can I still operate the navigation light from the existing cockpit switch and operate the Gobee light from the remote on-off switch without having to turn the navigation lights on. Basically I want to know if I can operate the Gobee navigation lights and Gobee spot light independentlyAnswers

I've only used mine twice but I am pretty sure the nav lights operate with the switch at the helm and the spotlight can only be operated with the remote. So yes, you can operate them independently.A:
Yes you will be able to operate the navigation light from the existing cockpit switch. With the Gobee light installed when you operate your cockpit light switch the bow running lights (red/green) on the Gobee light will turn on. The flood light will not. The flood light operates seperately with the remote. The cockpit switch must be on to supply power to the bow pin where the light is installed, which turns on the Gobee navigation lights. Only when you press the center button on the remote will the flood light come on.A:
I would say yes. My boat had 3 pin socket and when I wired the Gobee to accomodate the navigation lights are controled on/off by the switch on the console and the gobee spotlight comes on off with remote.A:

I don;t think you can but think about it. If you need your light on to see, you really need to have your nav and anchor light on too.Details:

The weight of the light is too much for the 12" pole that comes with it. It would break off in any kind of rough water.Take a pipe cutter and reduce the length by at least 4". It should be good to go. May also require a heavier fuse.

Yes it should...there are easy to follow directions if you have to change a wire on the light, but I have used mine on three different boats made by different manufacturers and the light worked perfect each time.

It might. It is designed for a two or three prong connection. If it does not work, the instructions that are included are very clear and easy to understand on how to change it. i had to change mine and it took less than five minutes. It is simply changing one wire and all you need is a screwdriver. Very simple.A:
This light comes prewired for a two pin plug. If your mount has three pins in it, Yes you will have to rewire the light not your boat. It is easy to do, you have to remove four phillips head screws and change two wires inside the light, takes about ten minutes to do, the instructions are way easy to follow. If your plug has two pins just plug it in and go. Make sure your plug is clean and free of corosion if not the light can be a little sluggish to turn.A:

Yes it will tilt down as well as up. as for the brightness, not quite as bright as a 400,000 foot candle hand held light but it is plenty bright.A:
Yes, it tilts up and down and side to side 360 degreesI have one of those 500,000 candle power lights and no it is not as bright but you do not need it. It sits up front and works more like a spot light than lighting up the whole world around you. I works like the headlights of your car if aimed correctly.

my gobee will tilt down about 45 degrees from center and 45 degrees up from center and will rotate 180 degrees each direction from center. A very slick marine light.Answers

Divide 1000 by 12.57 because one candleft is equal to 12.57 lumens. This gives you 79.55 or about 80. This is the intensity of the navigation light not the spot light above it. Hope this helps to some degree.A:
Lumes is the measurement of the total output of the bulb.Footcandles is the measure of intensity which take into account the reflector properties and the output of the bulb. So depending on the reflector whether flood or spot with change the footcandle measurement.
You'll probalby have to call the manufacturer to get the footcandle measurement. Many manufacturers are rating thier lights in both lumens and Candela, which is derived from either lux or footcandles as measured with a light meter. Much better than "candlepower" measurement which is often inflated for marketing purposes.
