it depends on the reel, it should tell you, try to leave 1/4" of metal on the inside spinny part.

Exact amount depends on the size of the reel spool. You want to fill it close to the rim of the spool, stopping just before the beveled edge near the rim. Having a full (but not overfull) spool will increase your casting distance.

it will but it can give you line twist i put up a review with a suggestion on how to make your own fixed rig but you should buy both winders and you can easily swap between them

Not really, becasue you don't want tension on the line when spooling a spinning reel. The best way to spool a spinning reel is with the spool on floor, while ensuring that the line comes of the line spool the same direction that it is being wound onto the reel spool. (If coming of counter clockwise, it should go on the reel counter clockwise, too.)

i just measured the girth of the winder and found it to be about 3" , if this will help it will hold up to 3" spools, i use the 1" spools of trilene and they work great

I don't think so.
It will hold 2 - 300yd spools of braid.
I think that it will might hold my 1500yd spools but they will be tight.
