I have an Abu Garcia Cardinal 102i on a 6'6" Medium Berkley Cherrywood. And an Abu Garcia Cardinal 354i on a 7' Medium Berkley Lightning. Due to my own neglect both rods were broken. However, I do get to upgrade to St. Croix Mojo Bass Rods. I also just recently purchased a Johnny Morris Carbon Black 6.4:1 baitcast that I'm putting on a St. Croix Spinnerbait or Crankbait rod. I used the 102i for small plastics and small spinnerbaits and buzz baits. And the 354i I'm open to suggestions because I have a Abu Garcia Cardinal 104i on a 7' MH Berkley Cherrywood I used with Jigs/Worms.

If you have a history of being really tough on your gear than I would be wary of any high modulus graphite rod.BUT...
In my personal opinion the wacky style spinning rod is the best all around spinning rod I own and can throw even unweighted soft plastics a good distance while still having plenty of backbone. I would suggest the Shimano Stradic 2500fi or a similar sized reel. I am not aware of the size of the Cardinal but if the weight is similar to that of the Stradic or Shimano Saros I would go for it.
The entire series of Mojos are great and I like every model I have used. I am not a huge fan of BassProShops rods. I find their handles and reel seats awkward.

i'll usually fish soft plastics texas rigged but on ocassion ill throw out a crank or a spinner depending on where i am and what they seem to be biting that day. so im wondering if the tubes/ grub rod would be a good choiceAnswers

Texas rigged soft plastics are great on the 7' tube/grub rod but for spinnerbaits I like the spinnerbait mojo casting rod paired with a shimano curado. It's a 6'6" rod with a heavier action at the tip that I like for moving baits like a spinnerbait. I don't use this rod fro crankbaits but not sure why that wouldnt do as well.

there is no such thing as an all purpose rod...but if you need it to handle all types of baits make sure you have the minimum characteristics to support both spinnerbaits and throwing plasticsA:
I had the tubes/grubs but liked the wacky version overall better to T-rigged plastics. I did not like it for cranksbaits.Answers

I have a gift card and am thinking of buying a Curado with a 7'0 (m or mh) Mojo rod. I fish a lot of soft baits, with a crankbait every now n then. Currently work with a Flueger President on a 6'6 M F graphite series Basspro rod.Looking to get a baitcasting reel and was wondering if you guys think this is a good setup?

I have a Curado 200e5 on a 7' MH moderate action mojo bass rod...IT IS SWEET!!! Best crankbait setup that I have currently...but personally I would go to the curado 200e7 since the e5 is almost too slow in my opinion.A:

Hey Benny, I can't speak for the Compre as I don't own one, but I love the 6'8" St Croix Mojo finesse/wacky rod I bought last fall. Last summer, I fished with a buddy who was using a more expensive St. Croix rod when we were drop shotting for deep smallies. He had the 6'9" ML action version, specifically a dropshot rod. I used it for a while, and the sensitivity of the rod and slight "give" at the tip when picking up the slack to feel the weight was incredible. Sweep hooksetting in 40' depths was easy, and no fish came unbuttoned. My 6'8" medium action version has the same feel with a touch more backbone - the better for handling bigger bass. Also, it should be good for more techniques than the ML version. I'm wondering if the rod blanks in the Mojo line may be the same, or at least have similar design if not materials, as the more expensive St. Croix rods.Good luck and good fishing!

neither, the mojo is way over rated and poorly made, the guide eyes pop out alot. In the $200 range the Daiwa fuego, Croix legend tourney, and Shimano Cumara are solid spinning rods.and If you can go a little higher, you can find a Daiwa steez rod on ebay between $250-$300 and they are really sweet!Those are the rods Ive been using the past couple years with NO problems.

Which Rod? All depends on the rod length and type. I use a 2000 series on the ML droshot rod, but I wouldn't put a 4000 series Shimano on it. Would probably work for a 7' M or MH Mojo Bass Rod.A:

ive used the 7' med for texas rigging, tubes and weightless. kinda heavy for weightless. the 7' mh might be better if your using heavier wieghts for your texas rigs. really good up to 3/8 oz. more then that and i want a heavier rod.

Oh yeah. I had a Pfleuger Supreme on mine, but it went down and I put my sons President reel on it (I use the 6.9 ML rod, exclusively for dropshot). What a combo! The -30 series would be a perfect fit for the ML rods, and the -35 series would pair great with the M or MH rods. All depends on what you're fishing for, but a great pairing. If you wait about a week, I can tell you exactly how they pair. An order is due in from BPS tomorrow, and I have a President 6730 XT in the shipment that I plan on pairing up with my 6.9 ML rod.A:

Yes this is a great combo! I have 2 set up this way. I have one for shaky head and on for senkos. Both 6'8'' medium extra fast tips. Hope this helps!

I was hoping to see what people would recommend between these two. I have the 7' mojo bass "plastics" paired with my baitcaster and love it. Now I'm looking to upgrade the spinning setup. If the carrot stix original is a better rod I don't mind paying the extra 50, but if they're comparable there's no point. Any input or advice is appreciated, thanks everyone.Answers

I only have the 6.9 ML Mojo Bass that I use exclusively for dropshotting. Would never own another dropshot rod. Good price, well built, and very sensitive. Very much unlike my ex-wife.A:
i think that this rod will be very good for a light lure rod / jig rod. you should definitely get this rod for this for this purpose. i own one and it is great for every possible purpose and shimano makes great rods

The Carrot stix is a inferior rod in my opinon, but if we are talking Carrot Stix Gold series it is a whole nother storey,I recently sold off my original model carrot stix and replaced them with a Mojo and a Skeet Reese rod. The gold carrot stix i wont part with

i believe you would be happy with the st croix rod vs. the carrot stick. save a little money. their just as good.A:
The carrot stick is not worth the money. Spend the extra $50 on a St Croix Avid or legend. Both are much nicer than a Carrot stick and have lifetime warranties.
