My wife has both the spinning rod combo and the baitcasting combo and likes them very much. I think these are high quality for the money. I am not sure about the closed face one you are looking at but pflueger doesn't make a bad outfit. I think I would recommend the open face version though. You would have a better chance of landing those Big Bass

the max line that you might be able to put on this reel is 8 lbs. it comes with 6 lbs. already on it. It is a good looking combo. But i call it my kid combo cause it is kinda small and it looks like it was made for kids.

what the picture looks like is what you get. this is an actual combo. it comes with rod and reel and line already . the line that is on the reel is 6 lbs. test. you might be able to put 8 lbs. test on it but i wouldnt recommend any heavier.

What type of rod & reel?

Details: 
I am looking for a rod & reel for causual fishing and I really don't want to spend to much but want one to last. I am planning on fishing bass in the river. Can you give me some ideas on which ones would do the trickfor this???

you might want to go with a zebco 800 series. my husband does a lot of bass fighing and his favorite is a zebco 888 with a 6 ft. shakespere rod. good luck with the bass this year.

i would suggets a pfluger open face, i have one and love it,, spin casts are slow in retreive and you will have some trbs in retreiveing ur bait. (probably) about 40 bucks not much money for a decent reel.
