Rod power vs action

Details:
The description says the action is either M or MH, but I'm pretty sure they mean power, not action. Can someone confirm what the power AND action is for these rods? Thanks!

This thing is a beef stick and has plenty of power. I would have to say its more medium than medium heavy.

We have this correct. The action of a rod, sometimes referred to as "power" determines how much effort it take to get the rod to flex.

If you want to reel using your left hand (meaning holding the rod with your right hand and using your left on the handle), then you need a left-hand retrieve.

No, baitcasting setups do not allow to switch the sides of the handles like spinning reels. If you get a right handed one, you stick with the handle on the right. I don't think BPS sells a left handed model of this reel. Most reel in its price range don't get left handed reels on them. You have to go into the 100 and up range to get a manufacturer to make a left handed model. I do know that Quantum and Shimano make left handed baitcaster, but they aren't cheap.

For a baitcaster, the bait/lure has to be 3/8 - 1 oz..... 3/8 below is for spinning.

No they won't. Heavier lures only, but I wouldn't wait your money anyways, it's junk. Step up to the Abu Garcia VRC69-6 and the Bass Pro pro-qualified bait caster. You will never look back and wish you had done differently. I purchased 5 of the bait caster combos from my local BPS, and ended up taking them all back and upgrading.

if you can afford a Pro Qualifier reel, I'd go with a better rod. This is good, but there are better ones available. I'd go for the Pro Qualifier rod too, if it was me.

I prefer 12 lb test for most all bass fishing. Proper drag adjustment will determine whether or not that is viable for your usage though

I would go with Stren Original Clear Blue in 14 lb. test. The 14 lb will give you enough power to fight bass easily and some other game fish. The Clear Blue color will allow you to see your line more clearly. You could also try 12lb in Stren. 10lb. though can get a little tricky because of its small diameter. Either way Stren is the way to go. It's abrasion resistance is excellent and it casts really far. Berkley Trilene Casting is a good line, but the line itself has poor abrasion resistance. I use it on my spinning reel and haven't had any breakoffs yet. Hopefully I won't. Monofilament is always a good line because of stretch and with it you can handle a fish much easier.
