I've never used the CODE reel, but this rod should work well with any low profile reel. I used mine with round and low profile reels and the rod is great.

Yes both the rod and the code reel are good and would make a nice combo.

If you're casting small blades (1/8 - 1/4 oz) a 6.6 medium is fine, but if you're casting 3/8 oz or heavier I would suggest a 7' MH because of the weight lure and because of the hook sizes. I think it will cast better and you will get a better hookset with the heavier action rod.

There are many other St.Croix rods that are better for spinnerbaits than this one. I would go with the Mojo Casting Rod. That was made for spinnerbaits. Remember most spinnerbaits rods are about 7' and require a lot of work. You can even go with the spinning rods they are made for this also.

A:
St. Croix Triumph casting rods are not American made. They were made in China until a couple of years ago then they were made in Mexico. The spacing of the guides are different and so is the guide wrapping.
These rods cast differently depending upon where they were made. Look on the base of the rod butt to determine where they were made then check the serial number on the rod to determine the date of manufacture.

A:
A quality medium action rod can handle 4lb and 5lb bass and would be more fun than a medium-heavy rod, but if you fish in heavy cover you need a stronger rod.

There are many choices to choose from. The best fit for this is the ABU GARCIA ambassadeur and the Newell R220-5 reel. In other words you have to pick a reel that is small, yet versitile.

In total about 7' tall. You have to figure for the distance between the rod guides from the tip to the reel seat.

I believe one this rod only comes in one piece. The one piece rods are much stronger and less hassle versus the two piece models.
