when you are ready to "shoot" pull the trigger, if trigger is adjusted correctly it should take very little pressure from your finger on the trigger to release the string.
The release should be locked to your loop or D-ring. You never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to release the arrow and make the shot. Otherwise you could release the arrow prematurely.
Take a guess at what size your hand is by trying on some gloves, small medium and large. Go on from there, if its the wrong size, Bass Pro will take it back and you can get one that will fit better. A little bigger on the hand is better than too small.
