The Super AA Vise is perfect for the beginning fly tier who wants to have a sturdy, high-quality vise and enough money left over to spend on fly tying materials. To hold material such as yarn or peacock herl out of the way after initially tying into the fly until it is needed after tying other materials into the fly.

It is not a spring, but the adjuster to fit what size hook you happen to be tying

to grab items that you want out of the way before you are ready to use them ie wire , herl , chennell (sorry about the spelling) etc Hope this helps
