No extra regulator needed. Propane flow is restricted by an orifice or a small hole in a fitting, Or the regulator is incorporated in the appliance. Most items such as lanterns and grills have built in regulators...usually the on off valve is where the regulator is located. I save the on-off valves on my grills after the grill is shot. If you've ever had to replace one (they do go bad) you'll be glad you did. They're expensive.

From what I can tell, the Converter Hose has a coupler that connects directly to the bulk propane tank and has the male "appliance" connector on the other end.

I have the Distro hose, and I use it to go from the Bass Pro Shops "Three Outlet Propane Distribution Post" to the "appliance". One end has the female "appliance" connector [connects to the post or the small disposable propane bottles] and the other end has the male [connects to the appliance].

The "appliance" connector is the smaller coupler system you see on the little disposable propane bottles and most propane camp stoves and lanterns.

Hope that helps.
