walk the dog-spook

Details:
75% of my fishing is walking the zara spook, I was originally looking for glass or a composite but this 6'6 M moderate action looks pretty tempting. Any thoughts? Alternative suggestions? I also want this to work for shallow cranks.

it will surely be a good crankbait rod. i've got the 7' M moderate that i use for cranks and it's really nice. personally, i prefer a little faster tip for topwater. the 7' is a little "whippy" for that in my opinion, but the 6'6" may not be so bad. if it were me, i'd use their MH for topwater. from my experience with falcon rods, their actions are a little more moderate than most rod companies. they do put out quality rods, though. one other thing to consider, you hear people rave about their customer service. it is the exact opposite in my opinion. i had a 7' H that the handle split from the butt up through the reel seat while casting, and they claimed that i had misused the rod and would not replace it. i can't even get my damaged rod back from them...not like it's worth much now, but still...

A:
I use 7' Med Heavy action casting rods for spinnerbaits in that range. Also by simply adjusting the spool tension on your reel you can flip and pitch your spinnerbaits if necessary.

As far as rods being technique specific, it's the angler that determines which rod he or she will use for a particular presentation. Use your comfort zone as your guide.

I would suggest the 6-10 medium. All these rods have a soft moderate fast progression making them very versatile and are perfect for reaction baits.

hey bud, i own a 6'6" mh that is really good for that. we fish a bunch and throw alot of spinnerbaits all through the water column from too to bottom. i feel you wouldnt be disapointed with this rod with its accuracy and all. that being said the rod is slightly whippy for a mh in my opinion but you may like that. As a suggestion and about 20.00 in savings even though im not an Abu fan the 6'6" Vendetta is an awesome little bit stiffer all around rod. I actually use the vendetta more now because its slightly stiffer and at 79.00 its a rod i dont worry too much about. Hope this helps

I use a 6 6 MH for all my bass fishing, one because if you use 20 rods of different legnths,, and power, then you have to adjust everytime you pick one up. I like a stiff rod for spinnerbait fishing because I feel you get a better feal for what the bait is doing. 6 6 is also more convieniant for trasport than a 7 or longer rod. I go backwoods fishing and that extra 6 inches gets on my nerves and the handle is just too long for my style of fishing. Most of the time I fish from the bank a 6'6 rod helps with casting distance, but is still solid enough to get a good huookset if you are 50 yards away from fish.
