Depends on where you live and what species the Bass feed on where you are. I use Smelt here in VT, works great, but that won't be the same for NC

I would reccomend using a 1/32 oz. or 1/64th oz. Canyon Lures eyeball ighead with a #6 or 8 hook. you can also match them up with Gitzit little tough Guy shad minnow jigheads as well.

A:
For weighted hooks I would say a 1/64 oz instead of a 1/32 oz live bait jighead for the slower sink rate.
Then for an unweighted hook I would say a size 8 to 10 would be ideal.

You can use just about any hook with these. Use them the same way you would use a real minnow, except that these offer more options - you can hook in the head, center of back, tail, use them on a jig, bare hook etc etc etc. The substance that these are made out of is Very durable and will take a Lot of punishment and abuse.

I stick the tip of the hook through the head section of the minnow and rig it on a jighead straight as I can, with the hook popping up and out of the top/back of the minnow. It should be straight and look like a real fish.

Any way you want. You can hook these things the same way you would a live minnow and more. Use them on bare hooks, on jigs etc etc.

I have have tried a few ways to rig it. But the best is through the nose and out on the back just before the tail. You can go weedless as well with a through the nose out the stomach and back in just before the tail.

I push the minnow onto the hook starting at the head and back just far enough so when the hook is through, the minnow sits straight and not kinked on the jig.

No, they're not real. They appear to be made out of some kind of rubber-like material. The look real and they stay on the hook very well. I typically catch 4 or 5 Bluegill before I need to change the bait.

No they're not real minnows. They're plastics that are kept in a solution that fish love the smell of.

I'm not really sure, but I would probably suggest Texas style if you can. If you want to rig it weightless, you will probably be best on getting to know top water technics. Just remember that your question was a little hard for me to answer, but you can still use my advise.

How do you fish it

A:
I like using a 5 1/2 foot ultra lite graphite rod and 4 lb test line and a Micro Lite spinning reel. Toss the minnow and jighead out around outside weededges, stickups, bridge pylons and docks. Twich your rod tip and use a lift drop retrieve. Crappie will usually inhale the minnow and jig on the drop. Set the hook if you feel a "tap" or you line goes slack at all.

Well, with pretty much any type of minnows, you want to try to hook it through the head. You could also rig it if that's easier
