This reel is a light action combo, or at least the one i found in bps was. I would not recommend this rod and reel for surf fishing. Try going with a bigger reel, and a longer stronger rod. Also, you need some sinkers and bottom rigs, hooks, and bait, Cast it out and wait for the big one.Images for this Answer

I think the limit on this rod is 20lbs but the real limit is what line you use and your technique of how you fish if you rush a fish in or you wear it out by playing it, overall it is a great setup the way it comes, just add what you want to use for a lure or bait at the end of the line and set the handle to the side you like and your off.Answers

unscrew the cap nut on the opposite side of the reel from the handle when it is removed pull the handle out and put it in on the other side of the reel then screwin the cap nut on the opposite side.A:
