Details: 
I am interested in the digital grip but upon reading a review the purchaser states that he is on his second grip and both show 13oz without haveing anything on the grip. Can this machine not be zeroed before use to give a more accurate reading?

Yes it can be zeroed. Hold the grip with the handle up and turn it on. That will read zero.
