Details: 
Will it reveal shorelines, topography of a lake. Interested in finding shorelines, coves for fishing as well as finding areas of shallow or deep water.

I think you would have to get a marine topography map inorder to have that kind of info, but it certainly does that on land.

Does not supply depth contours of lakes. Provides accurate depiction of topography based on USGS 100k maps. No routing capabilities however.

Definitely, I usually have NiMH batteries in mine and keep a set charged with me if necessary, but they last great!!

Uses AA batteries. You can use rechargeable batteries, however the unit will not recharge batteries. I use an external battery charger with several set of batteries. The unit can be powered using the included USB cable to a laptop and or power inverter in your vehicle

Yes. Re-chargeable NiMH batteries are available at all stores that sell cameras and camera supplies.

yes standard AA rechargeables will work. I use them and keep a spare pair in my pack. The charger in the truck keeps them hot.
