A:
This includes the LSS-1 black box, power cable, Structure Scan transducer with 20 foot cable and mounting bracket, a 15 foot ethernet cable and hardware kit. Mounting will require a drill and drill bits, phillips screwdriver and marine grade above-or-below waterline sealant.

I've had my LSS-1 on 2 different boats now, mounted directly beneath my lower unit, and have had absolutely zero interference issues.

A:
There is no option to mount the transducer through the hull. In the instructions, the options are trolling motor or hull.

While I can't say for 100% it wouldn't work, I get the impression that it won't based on the lack of a thru-hull mounting option.

Downscan Specifications: Max Depth: 100 ft (800kHz); 300 ft (455kHz). Would not be good for depths over 300ft.

It will work, I have two of them on my boat but you really need at least HDS7 to get the best performance out of it. Down scan works great and sidescan works good too but hard to see much on such a small screen.

Yes, it works with the HDS5. I had it on my HDS5 before I bought an HDS8 and moved the HDS5 to my bow.
