A:
Good? More like ideal. This rod was made specifically to handle any redfish and trout situations and most snook applications.

I have several of these rods and they are my go to rods for redfish and trout.

I have landed up to 36" snook with this rod, no problem!

Excellent live bait rod and can is equally suited to fish jigs/plugs.

A:
Yes it would get about a 7 to 71/2 footer and fish with some braided line. But if you want to really good action go with a light to medium. There are several realy good rods out there just a matter of budget and how many times you plan on going.
