Can't answer your question 100% but there is a reason casting rods have a smaller first guide. Maybe you should look at the beefstick casting rods if you are trying to find a rod for a reel you already have. Hope this helps!

you could but it would cause a lot more backlashes because the guides on a spinning reel are further from the rod. buy the casting version of this rod
