absolutely i have the 7" rod with a tica abyss 8007r reel on it and trust me it aint a little reel. I use 65 lb braid on the reel and with that rod i ahvent met a fish i cant reel in

absolutely , Ive got a couple of mh spinning rods with daiwa DF100s and a couple conv heavys with penn 309s,all strung with 100# spiderwire yellow , i use them for big flathead fishing on the mississippi river and i love em ,they will hold anything you can get to put on em,they have alota back bone so if your looking to go for smaller channels, you might want to go with the ML or M for more sensitivity. good luck and good fishing....
