Details: 
Never had a fish finder before, so this might be a lame question. From what I've read, this sounds like one of the top performers. I'd like one, but don't want it if it takes some sort of propritory battery and be useless in a couple years. Would be great if it just took a 12v source or regular replaceable battery. Anyone able to provide this info ?

A: 
This Flasher takes a small 12 volt battery. You can not go wrong with this kind of battery set up. I use one of these batteries to run my 787 unit on my 14 foot tinney. See picture.
