They do not have smooth bottoms they have the grooves for gripping. Therefore they could hang up in the stirrips if you were to fall out or try to dismount quickly makeing them not "safe" for riding.

I wear these boots for riding as well as barn work. They have held up well for 2 years. The detailing and stitching is all the same as it looked then.A:
This boot would make someone look darn good while riding but I would be afraid of the detailing getting damaged. It is possible the detailing on the shaft could wear off. I am not sure that would be the case but know I wouldn't wear them to ride and also do not wear them as work boots.1 of 1
