I would say about 22 Oz. You can notice a slight difference when carrying the gun, but it is not enough weight that will cause you problems. It is nice that you can still attach your carrying strap to the bottom of the bipod for easy carrying.
I would guess six ounces empty. Loaded with 30-06 ammo its closer to a pound. Carrying in a pack dont even notice. Pocket you might notice the extra weight, but it still beats an extra clip.
It mounts through the sling swivel & then your sling mounts to it. Obviously, once it's tightened down, the bipod's base does not swivel against the forestock.
I am going to be hunting during black powder season on the ground. I will be laying on the ground in a prone position with a ghillie suit on. I need a bipod to set my gun on while im laying on the ground. I wanna make sure its high enough off the ground to aim level but not too high.
The largest size is big enough that if you're laying on the ground you won't need to extend the legs at all. If you wan't something where you can adjust a little while laying on the ground. I'd suggest the 9-13" one. Fully extended it should be high enough to use while laying down.
It will attatch to your sling stud, but I could not get it to seat properly on the stock of my Remington 700. With the bipod adjustment screw tightened all the way there was about a 1/4" gap between the bipod and the stock, so the bipod was swinging free and unstable.
