Round reel line capacity in a low-profile reel! Abu Garcia's Revo Toro Baitcast Reel will change the way you fish for large freshwater and saltwater fish! The Revo Toro takes the sleek and comfortable design of the low-profile Revo reel and adds the high-capacity spool size found on a round reel, so anglers can fight and turn a hard-driving and long-running fish from the hookset. The Revo Toro's low-profile frame and side plate are made from highly corrosion-resistant X-Cräftic aluminum alloy which is lighter and more durable than regular aluminum. Seven High Performance Corrosion-Resistant (HPCR) bearings with Instant Anti-Reverse and Duragear brass gears combine to increase the Revo Toro's durability and long life. The Revo Toro's Carbon Matrix Drag System delivers a maximum of 24 lbs. of pressure to help you turn a snook or keep a muskie from entering a brush pile. The Swedish engineered Revo Toro also features an Infini II spool design for extended castability, six-pin centrifugal brake, synchronized level wind, line alarm and includes an extended throw and paddle handle.
Do not waste your money. Buy A shamino baitcaster. Aubu Garcia reels are over rate especially their drag rating for their reels. These reels are much to expensive.
Does the wide spool model have a non disengaging levelwind? If you son't know what that is, a levelwind is the hole you thread the line through on the reel that goes back and forth to wind the line on. So a nondisengaging levelwind is where the levelwind goes back and forth on the cast too, so it follows the line back and forth as it comes off the spool.
Would this reel and the St. Croix Premier musky rod (8'6" heavy) be a good muskie combo? I wasn't sure because the I looked at both the reel and the rod at the store and this reel looked a little small for that model rod. Also what range of baits could the reel throw? Could it handle a pounder bull dawg or a light lure light a 1 ounce bucktail? Thanks.
I bought the Revo Toro for Musky fishing and could not be more confident of recommending it. I would recommend the winch model and using the power handle for twin 10's. I have successfully thrown everything from a 1lb Mag Bulldawg to a light 1oz crankbait with this reel with just the dial adjustment. BTW - You'd have to buy a deep sea rod for a better drag system.
I am still using a 7'6" rod from a couple years back which is great for jerk bait applications but for every other musky fishing application I'd prefer a 8'6" to 9' rod. The additional length is quite helpful for casting lures the size and weight of a chicken but crucial for performing a quality figure 8.
Would this reel cast huge baits like a pounder bulldawg (13 ounce bait)? On the flip side, would it cast a lighter bait, like a 1 ounce bucktail or small twitchbait? Also what rod, either a st. croix mojo musky rod (yes, they make a musky version now) or a st. croix premier musky rod? Thanks.
IF YOU PLAN ON USING IT FOR BIG CATFISH, I WOULD RECOMEND LOOKING AT THE NITRO REEL FROM BPS. MINE CAST A MILE AND IT HAS PLENTY OF ENOUGH POWER TO BRING A BIG CAT TO JUSTICE. IT ALSO CAN HOLD HUGE AMOUNTS OF POWER PRO BRAID.
There is a wheel in the housing opposite the crank with 6 pins. The wheel spins while casting the pins move out from the centrifugal force and rub on a drum slowing the spool down. This helps stop backlash. If your new to fish it will help you.
