You can use this unit with a USB Cable or SD Card, which you will be able to transfer your saved routes or waypoints to your computer. Which if you are other unit can be hooked up to the computer then you should be able to transfer to another unit.

This GPS does not come with a mini-USB to USB cable for computer connection. However, it can use any mini-USB to USB cable on the market. Many customers will already have one of these from a digital camera, camcorder or other portable electronic device.

If needed, you can purchase one of these data cables from stores or on the internet for less than $10.

This GPS is designed specifically for North America. While it comes with a global map which shows country boundaries, it does not provide detail on roads, rivers, etc. for other continents or countries such as Australia.

Lowrance has announced that they will have other regional versions of the Endura GPS products for Europe and Australia/New Zealand, but they are not released for sale yet.

Lowrance GPS products are often used by members of the military as a personal GPS device. Soldiers often use a Lowrance GPS for marking waypoints for possible insurgent locations, attack areas, etc.

While it will pick up very accurate GPS signal anywhere in the world, it does not come loaded with mapping for Iraq. If you frequently drive a convoy route, you can record the route with the GPS while you are there and then share it with anyone who owns an Endura GPS. If you need to create a route prior to travel, there are websites that allow you to create your own routes and trails in GPX format for free using Google Satellite type maps as the background map. You can create these routes for your military convoy routes and load them onto any Endura GPS for navigation.

One thing you will need to be sure of is to change your Regional Setting on the Endura to APAC (which includes the Middle East). Otherwise, you will have difficulty seeing your trail and waypoint information.

GPS is a global entity. Pretty much any GPS receiver, be it a chartplotter, a handheld or a car unit will receive signal pretty much anywhere in the world. Being a handheld design to build tracks or trails, routes and points, this unit will work fine in Iraq. However there currently is no detailed maps offered by Lowrance for these units. So any form of topographic software is currently out of the question. But to make sure you know where you are going and to get back to base, it will do the job. Hope this works out for you and come and see us sometime at Bass Pro Shops Orlando!

Downloading tracks/trails and waypoints to a computer is very straight forward with an Endura GPS. When you connect the GPS to the computer using a mini-USB to USB cable, the computer (both IBM and MAC) will open up a window and recognize the GPS as a storage device. Then, all you need to do is open the folder for the device and copy or drag and drop your files over to your computer.

Once loaded on your computer, you can email these to friends, upload to trail sharing websites for free, or open and view using Google Earth.

FYI, the Endura GPS units are NOT compatible with the older Lowrance MapCreate software as it is not needed anymore.

All Lowrance equipment is compatible with their MapCreate software which allows you to not only store routes, trails and waypoints on the PC but it gives you a base map of the world to see where exactly those points and trails are. Allowing you to edit and create routes and points from the comfort of your own home. Hope this helped you out and come see us at Bass Pro Shops Orlando!

No. MapCreate 6 software was designed primarily for the Lowrance marine products and the older Lowrance iFinders. That software is about 6 years old and the Endura software does not support it.

Lowrance is currently using the Map Create 7 software, I believe any of their software would be compatible, yet the new Endura line is set to a MicroSD format. They are currently working on introducing Lake Insight™ and Nautic Insight™ mapping for their handhelds. Navionics is also producing MicroSD cards specifically for the Lowrance Handhelds. Upon that you would be able to use the Navionics NavPlanner software as well. I hope this helps you out.
