I wouldn't recomend this bow to anyone for anything, just because of the quality and durabilty issues I have personally had with it. Starting out I think a compound bow would be alot better for a beginer.

you can use the same sights and rest if you want. I did!!A:
The bow comes with attachment points for a sight - just like a normal compound bow. However, I do not recomend the use of a sight. Recurve bows are best used without sights for more reflexive or instinctive shoting. A recurve is much more useful and versatile when not hindered by a sight. Shoot the bow until you're able to operate without a sight. Ususally 100-200 shots. You'll like it much better without one - but if you must, a sight can be mounted.Details:

At 58" tall his eyes should be at approximately 52" (the approximate center of the bowline). Using a 60" bow would leave 20+inches clearance to the ground plane.He should be able to learn and grow into the 30# bow for some years to come before he'll want to switch limbs of a heavier weight. Ethically it is considered best to hunt with only 40# or heavier rated bow.
