The poundage is dependent on where you are fishing. Extreme heavy cover would garner using 65lb+ If it's only rocks, I'd use 30lb test. It's thin and extremely durable. Last thing, the larger the line, the shorter distance in casting so if you are using a light lure, go with lighter line.Details:

Yup I got some of the 12 lb diam (50 lb equiv) of the new "clear blue fluorescent" braid. I love it but I got specifically to use on my new pike set-up, where I always use a black steel leader. This line is High visibility and can even be lit up by a black light at night! the color description "Clear blue" is a little misleading, its more white with a hint of blue. high viz, yes, but it has its uses for sure!If you are looking for a low visiblity braid go with the Low vis green, the stuff is amazing, best braid on the market if you ask me.
Lastly I have to disagree with the other poster who suggests using mono as an all around line. I say use low vis green Stren Sonic braid as an all around line! Why not take advantage of the uber strengh of braid and the amazing performance of this sonic braid! mono is just too stretchy and weak IMO

Hi! Never heard of a flourescent blue sonic braid. Did not know they had that. I would stick with mono if I were you inless you are going to use braid only for pitching and flipping and fishing plastics. Don't use braid all the time. Mono works great for an all around approach.Details:

i am personally a tournament fisherman and i have always preferred spooling the braided line straight to reel. but if you would like to save money on the braided line you could spool it with mono

This is an excellent line for all heavy cover applications. It has a super thin diameter and casts a mile on my baitcaster, further than any other braid I have used on my Abu Garcia Revos. I love it. It is super strong, thin and very supple. I would recommend it to anyone. I was never a huge braid fan on baitcasters until I tried this line, I use the 20lb test on my Revo Winch and will keep on using it.

This is the best line for heavy jigs in heavy cover. I have caught tons of bass deep in the weeds and manage to still pull them out. Sometimes they have such thick weeds on them I can't find the bass.I use the 30 pound line all the time.
I just wouldn't buy spiderwire stealth I think that line has something against me.

Braid is generally preferred over Mono and Flourocarbon in heavy cover simply for it's strength. It also handles much better than heavy test mono. Whatever brand you prefer will take some experimenting. I personally prefer the original Stren Super Braid or Suffix braid.

Absolutely. May want to drop down one notch in rod power if you are not using a HEAVY wire hook. Since there is no stretch in the line, it is possible to straighten regular hooks with a heavy rod. Should do a very good job for you in the "junk". Good luck....

Absolutely. Make sure you use a higher test though. I found that if I use the 80 lb test, my hook would bend before I lost the lure. Makes it an excellent choice to go with. The issue with the 80lb test is that the diameter will not allow for a very far cast & has tendencies for line memory (if you use line conditioner, this should be less of a problem).I am probably going to scale back a bit & try for 50lb test this year. The 30lb was great for casting distance but the line wasn't as strong if you got tangled. Hope this helps!

This line is good for fishing jigs in heavy cover. It is definitely strong enough to get jigs in and out of the cover and is sensitive enough to let you feel cover and fish that bite.

I have been using braided line in salt water for 4 years. The color does fade but have not noticed any lose of strength. The braided line will knot easily in a stiff breeze.A:

I've used this mostly in freshwater, but have fished off our nearby saltwater pier a few times. Never had a problem with the color fading.One thing to note is, that it soaks up water more than monofilment line. If you are fishing saltwater, be sure to rinse your reel afterward so the saltwater retained by the line doesn't corrode your hardware.

I have not tried it in saltwater, however it does start to lose its color after about 20 - 30 casts in fresh water. I have used braids that hold their color better in fresh and would use that as a guideline for salt too... It is however one of the thinest diameter, strongest and best casting braids I have used to date. I hope this helps.

I use this line on both spinning and baitcast. The line is so limp and had no memory at all which is a really big advantage with spinning tackle I can't stress enough the abrasion resistance on this stuff is awesome and is casts great! I will continue to use this stuff for a long time.A:

The lighter lb test 8-14 can be used on most any spinning rigs. Depending on the spool and reel you can go above that in the 20+ range.

This line can definitely be used on spinning reels. The great thing about the new fuse technology is the smaller diameter of the line. Try out some 30 lb test that has the strength of braid, but the diameter and feel of 8 lb. mono or floro.A:

I saw a tip from James Niggemeyer on using Braided line and he said that you don't need a leader at all as long as your near some kind of cover.A:
Depends on what you are fishing for. When tarpon fishing, I always add a heavier 60-80lb leader on the end of the line. When I fish for catfish off the bottom, I tie the tackle directly to the line.

I believe it all depends on application in clear water at shallow depths, I will almost always use a fluorocarbon leader. In stained or dirty water I wont bother with the leader and it doesn't seem to diminish the strikes.

Not necessarily. If the water is off color, go with straight braid. If you are concerned with visibility, use a 3 or 4 foot leader of fluorocarbon. If you want to use straight braid, lighten up on the rod power one notch. Don't need a pool cue to set hooks with braid, besides, a softer action rod will be lighter and easier to handle during a long day of fishing.

It depends on how you are fishing. Typically, the only time to add a leader to braided line is if you want a more realistic presentation of your bait. This is useful when the fish are much less aggressive or the water you're fishing is super clear. If this is the case, use a floro leader for it's low visibility properties. Other than that, there is really no need to add a mono or floro leader to braid.A:

I can't even explain the greatness of this line. I love Stren's mono, but their braid has even better casting ability and has awesome abrasion resistance. This line works great with spinnerbaits, but I can't say that Spiderwire won't work either because I have never used it before. I will continue to use Stren's sonic braid on all of my reels spinning and baitcast because this line is so limp and easy to handle.

This would be a great idea for fishing at night. I use braid while fishing a Chatterbait at night because of the sensitivity; you feel every thump of the blade or vibration of the Chatterbait. If the fish are lethargic, they may only suck in the spinnerbait. With braid, you will feel the blades quit turning, allowing you to catch some fish you may ordinarily miss because you did not know they bit!

It works great with spinnerbaits and it is better than SpiderWire. I used both. SpiderWire broke 2 times more than the Stren. I've used Stren for most of my life. I won't change now. I hope you do too.

For quality and performance you can not beat Stren even with spiderwire Steath!Stren Sonic braid is tops in my book so why not make it tops in your book?
This braid has it all small diameter, castability, and it is super strong.
Sonic braid casts smoothly and fantastically far so why not give it a try?

Stren's new Sonic Braid I feel is much better than Spiderwire Stealth because it is much smoother and smaller diameter and comes so easily off the reel . I think this new line is the best of the braids and Fireline too

I used the regular Stren Super braid & the Spiderwire. I always tie my knots with a Palomar knot. I lost more lures with the Spiderwire than the Stren. I've caught quite a few bass on spinner baits. There's no issue that I found yet. It's not the typical use for braid but when you have a low budget, this holds up better than your fair share which means a lot less lost lures.Hope this helps.
