I have been using 30lb Powerpro braid on mine, smooth as silk. I landed 2 bass over 9lb last week and this combo works like a charm.

If you go to the mfg website, only the DHxL is the color shown on this website. The DH3000 is a different color.

As previously answered, the xL is a different color, but in my experience, it has the same quality performance as the 3000 and 4000

I will answer my own question. I purchased the 2nd sized model (DH3000) and as suspected it looks nothing like the picture. It's black and gold like on the MFG website. Make sure you check it out before purchasing.

It should but why bother doing that ? Have you tried braids ? You will get 220 yards with 30 lb braid because of the smaller diameter. I personally recommend Spiderwire.

I have the 3000 loaded with 125 yards of 15lb braid and a LOT of backing line. If using a small diameter, limp line, you should have no problem bumping up to the 14-17 range. I just gave my 3000 a 3-week workout in northern Michigan and had zero problems - except that when I initially filled the reel, I didn't hold enough tension on the line,,,this caused the braid to dig into itself the first time I fought a 13lb Lake Trout. I cured the problem by stretching the line out and re-loading the spool under heavy tension.
