A:
For a 22' boat it is recommended to use at least 80-101 pounds of thrust. However, if you are in slack-water lakes most of the time (no current), then 75lb should work.

If a customer fishes rivers , tailwaters or any other body of water with abundant current, recommend moving up a level or two higher than the recommended minimum thrust.

ecommended for 18' boat is a 55 pound thrust but if you fish slack-water lakes most of the time then 50 would work.

If your fish rivers , tailwaters or any other body of water with abundant current, recommend moving up a level or two higher than the recommended minimum thrust.

IT DETACHES AND DOES NOT TILT IF YOU BOUGHT THE BOW MOUNT FOR A POTOON BOAT. TO DETACH UNSCREW THE HAND BRACKET DOOR KNOB AND REMOVE THE MOTOR. I JUST LOOSEN THE BRACKET AND SLIDE THE MOTOR OUT OF THE WATER & RE-TIGHTEN WHEN I GET UNDERWAY. THE TRANSOM MOUNT MODEL DOES TILT AND SOME OF THE OTHER MODELS ALSO DO.

I HAD A 12 VOLT 50# THRUST TROLLING MOTOR ON MY 22 FOOT PONTOON BOAT AND IT DID NOT MOVE THE BOAT IN A 10-20 MPH WIND. I BOUGHT THE 24 VOLT 75# THRUST MOTOR AND IT MOVES MY PONTOON IN UP TO A 20 MPH WIND. AS FOR YOUR 20 FOOT PONTOON I WOULD GUESS PROBABLY WITH DIFFICULTY IN A 10-15 MPH WIND. WITH WINDS LIGHT AND VARIABLE YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM.

The 24 volt motor with its 70 lbs of thrust would be best for your 20' pontoon.
