Looking for bigger fish I would go with the 6'6" M 8 lb line or the 7' 10 lb line. Both would work excellent for what you are fishing for.

I am a beginner fisherman and was invited on a Canadian walleye trip in Ontario. I liked the reviews on this setup and was wondering if it would hold up to a week long of walleye and pike fishing. I was considering the 6'6" M (or maybe the 7')

I got the 6 1/2 foot light rod and used it catching rainbows and it worked great. I had 6 lb line and the fights were fun. Try 4 lb and they'd be even better. You won't be disappointed if you get this combo.

This would be the perfect combo for the small mouth bass you mentioned. The rod is sensetive and the reel is smooth and can cast a mile. This is also great for largemouth, blue gill, and freshwater cats. Tight lines!

    How durable is it?

    Details:
I put my equipment through heck, and I've broken a few low end rods and I don't want to waste money on another. I do take good care of my stuff, but I'm on the water every chance I get and stuff happens sometimes.

I am not a fan of two peice rods as sometimes when you cast the front peice can fly off. It should be a good setup for trout depending on what line you put on it and the type of lure you are using.

As a general rule I do not use two piece rods, you're much better off with a one piece, less to go wrong, and stronger backbone.

yes, i have been using it this past summer right before fall and off jetties and beaches piers, etc at a bay area park....caught 100+ striper, spot, perch, etc. on two diffrent occasions and no rust....although make sure to clean off the bait that dries on the reel and rod after a long day of fishing,,,,it can affect its performance as in all rods it can hinder the reeling and cause it to somewhat lock-up but i have put this through heck and back this summer and it survived as my favorite reel and second favorite rod

I purchased one last year not realizing it was not made for saltwater fishing. The real works great for catching puppy drum, speckled trout, and small rockfish. I clean my reels very well after every use. When I pulled it back out for this season I noticed a few corrosion spots on it. It is not bad but the reel is not made to hold up to the saltwater. Would I buy another one for saltwater? The answer to that is yes....I plan on buying two of the 6ft combos with the GX-7 reel. You cant beat the price but you will have to take extra care of them.
