This Bowfisher reels intended use is for fishing with a bow and arrow. It comes equipped with 80 lb test Dacron Line instead of mono filament. The normal fishing versions of the 808 come with 20 lb test mono filament line.

Do not be confused by the model number. There are different variations of the Zebco 808 reel.

For the best possible performance from any reel. It is normally best to stick with the type and size line that the company that made the reel rated it for. One size smaller line usually works fine.

Two of the variations that I own. One variation is assembled for salt water fishing. Another has a few less features and was intended for fresh water catching catfish. Both have all metal gears and bearings rather than bushings.

For even heavier use the Zebco 888 is also available. The 888 comes with 25 lb test mono filament line.

With proper maintenance these are reels that should survive hard use and some abuse for many years.
