I dont like the new Curado, the E was better. I would get the SX, I like it even better than my E7, and Ive always been a Shimano person, so what does that tell you?

the reel weighs 8.89oz. it is a really nice reel, smooth casts far barely and backlashes and really not that expensive. put it on a nice rod like the Abu Garcia Veritas or spend a wee bit more and get the Duckett Micro Guide rod. both would make an excellent combo.

A:
There is a black screw you turn with your hand at the top left hand side (no screwdriver needed) unscrew as much as you can take the right side of the reel and twist up and pull off. Oil everywhere the stainless steel rod goes into also oil underneath the eye in the front and finally the handle.

unwind the silver screw on the reel. turn the side plate 1/4 turn towards you. pop off side plate. oil the bearing on the spool. I did that and wow.

A:
The silver screw on the top right side of the reel that runs all the way across to the left side is removed, then you twist the left side plate counter clockwise and it will pop off. Then remove the spool and you can get to most of the bearings you need to get to for oiling.

Your best bet would be to follow general guides on Youtube that show how to clean and maintain baitcasters. The SX is not much different than the rest of them.

On the handle side of the reel towrd the front, there is a screw. Loosen it up until it is loose. Then turn the left side plate up. It should come right off for you.

Not sure about it being the best, but it does great for me. The STX may pitch a little better due to the dual brake system.

A:
both are excellent reels that hold up well with normal maintenance and cleaning. distance is relative to line size, rod length, and anti-back lash setting. Light line, longer rod, smaller setting equals longer casts with the same bait weight. The STX has external magnetic adjustment for the backlash, along with the internal weights, and the SX only has the internal (inside the side plate).

The speed or gear ratio. Think of going up a steep hill on a bike in high gear. It is difficult. Sio in fishing reel terms I would say the bigger the fish you target the more you wou;d need a lower gear ratio.

It depends what type of fishing you are going to be doing with it, either way I think this reel can handle it. The specific fishing situation will determine line choice, not just the reel
